BROCKTON — The Brockton License Commission voted to roll back a Main Street restaurant's hours for two months after police found an unlicensed outdoor bar running in June. Chairman Scott Alderman and commissioners Landeholm, Barrows and Simpson approved cutting the restaurant's closing time from 2 a.m. to midnight from December 1, 2026, through January 31, 2027, citing a police report that found 12 to 15 people, a DJ and a shipping-container bar on an unpermitted patio on June 14. "The punishment needs to be swift and it needs to be quick," Alderman said.

Separately, commissioners warned four Main Street businesses, including Westgate Entertainment and Tambo Incorporated, to stop covering storefront windows below five feet or risk losing their 2027 licenses; one owner said he had already spent $35,000 on dark glass and faced $48,000 more to comply, calling the rule "unfair." Commissioners also approved several one-day event permits and warned inactive used-car dealers to show sales activity.
