Brockton City Council approves utility pole to power new soccer facilities on Howard Street.

BROCKTON -- City councilors granted a National Grid petition during their July 27 meeting to install a new utility pole on Howard Street to bring power to what a company representative described as "the new soccer facilities."

TOWN -- The petition, heard during the regularly scheduled Brockton City Council meeting, called for a new mid-span pole and push brace on Howard Street, roughly 800 feet south of the intersection with Howard Avenue. A National Grid representative told councilors the work "is to provide a point to tap off of Howard Street to go down to provide power to the new soccer facilities." No councilors raised questions on the item, and it was granted by hand vote with no opposition. The petition did not include details on a construction timeline or the location or scope of the soccer facilities themselves.
