Brockton Senior Center Fair Draws Dozen Organizations Offering Free Senior Services

BROCKTON — November 20, 2025 — Brockton's Council on Aging held a Health and Safety Fair at the Senior Center on November 20, 2025, drawing representatives from more than a dozen community organizations. No formal votes or board business were conducted. Delia DeMello of the Social Security Administration urged seniors to create accounts on SSA.gov and warned against fraud; Joanne Lobaton and Yvonne DePina of the Department of Transitional Assistance outlined SNAP and cash benefit programs. Tina White of the Brockton Rotary Club, joined by club president Claire Ramesha and past president Richard Hook, promoted a lockbox program co-sponsored with the Council on Aging, Old Colony Elder Services, and the Brockton Fire Department that gives first responders keyed access to a resident's home in emergencies. Denise Powell of Careforth described a MassHealth program paying family caregivers a tax-free daily stipend, now in operation for more than 20 years with NCQA national accreditation.
