Brockton's School Committee policy subcommittee voted 3-0 to advance more than 80 updated, added, or omitted policy sections to the full School Committee for a final vote. The Policy Manual Review Subcommittee worked through Section J, covering students, and Section K, covering community relations, in a single March 24 session, clearing a bundle of recommendations produced by an outside contractor and district administrators. Member Jean-Claude Gomes held one item, the News Media Relations and News Releases section, after noting that text had been removed from the contractor's draft without explanation, saying "it would be helpful to see that section." A student organizations policy and a newly identified community-use-of-schools regulation were also pulled from the bundle, with the regulation flagged for the full policy process rather than the expedited forward track.
