Brockton School Bid Review Subcommittee Approves Six FY2025 Contracts Unanimously
BROCKTON — May 27, 2025 — Brockton School bid panel unanimously approves six FY2025 service contracts totaling more than $106,000. The School Committee's Bid Review Subcommittee met Tuesday at Brockton High School and voted to award contracts covering hot-top paving, on-call electrical and plumbing services, pest control, refrigeration and air conditioning, and fire alarm testing across the district. Ken Thompson, Director of Operations, presented all six bids; most went to current contractors who submitted the lowest qualifying figures. The largest award was a $24,100 fire alarm services contract for American Service Company, followed by a $20,949.95 refrigeration contract for CAM HVAC and a $68,500 one-time paving contract — covering roughly 20,000 square feet of new surface at the Davis Elementary School, enough for three basketball courts — awarded to the sole bidder. One refrigeration bid, from Advanced Air and Heat Company Inc., was rejected for arriving by email rather than in hard copy. The subcommittee also agreed on process improvements, including plain-language bid summaries and formal documentation of rejected submissions.
