BROCKTON -- March 18, 2025, Brockton's superintendent evaluation framework clears subcommittee on unanimous vote. The School Committee's Superintendent's Contract Subcommittee voted unanimously Tuesday to approve Superintendent Dr. Priya Taliani's proposed three goals and six focus indicators for her formal evaluation, referring the item to the full School Committee for final ratification. Taliani's goals center on recalibrating operational systems, implementing findings from multiple district audits, and establishing alternative competency measures for the class of 2025. The meeting produced a notable disclosure: Taliani told the subcommittee that the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education is considering sunsetting the district's 2020 Memorandum of Understanding, a 15-area compliance agreement, saying DESE "believes that we have demonstrated so much progress" that formal oversight may no longer be needed. Discussion also turned to a planned phased restructuring of the HR department, which currently costs $1.3 million annually and employs an assistant superintendent, four associate directors, and six administrative assistants, a staffing level Taliani said exceeds comparable districts by a significant margin.
