Brockton City Council adopted a home rule petition clearing financing for the Boys and Girls Club of Brockton. The council voted 11-0 to let the city subordinate its reversionary interest in the club's 233 Warren Avenue property, enabling up to $1.3 million in conventional lender financing. Councilor Charnell called it "this home run with the petition over the finish line" after years of effort.
Councilors also advanced a $2.3 million fire truck bond order to a third reading, confirmed four board appointees by unanimous roll call, and voted to summon Mayor Moses Rodriguez, Police Chief Brenda Perez, Fire Chief Brian Nardelli, DPW Commissioner Patrick Hill and emergency management official Stephen Hook to report on costs tied to recent "watch parties" and large public gatherings. A separate solicitation license for Genesis Equity Realty's Wyatt Gilmore drew questions about door-to-door identification before passing unanimously.
