Select Board · Meeting of October 13, 2026

Brockton City Council advanced a $2.3 million fire truck bond to a third reading and granted two business licenses despite the applicant's 2019 forfeiture. The council voted 11-0 by roll call to confirm five mayoral appointments, including David L. Williams Jr. to the Commission on Human Rights, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, and to adopt budget transfers including $33,000 from the Mayor's Youth Task Force to DPW Refuse Personal Services and $17,257.44 in police department reallocations.

Councilor Farwell asked petitioner Joshua De Burgo on the record whether he had forfeited $1,504 following a 2019 Plymouth Superior Court order; De Burgo confirmed it, and the council granted his Elliott Street licenses unanimously anyway. A ward councilor warned De Burgo that "the patience of the neighborhood is limited." The council also voted to invite Superintendent Dr. Priya Tahiliani to discuss DESE's March 2026 district review, and referred a $35,640 MEMA grant and a $500 Honda donation to its Finance Committee.
