BROCKTON — The Brockton City Council enacted an ordinance establishing charges for privately collected domestic waste, confirmed a new fire alarm operator and cleared a road-project easement, while deferring big-dollar items to its Finance Committee. Councillors voted 11-0 to ordain the waste-hauler fee ordinance after it was amended in committee in August. The council also confirmed Amy Stack, of Sewell Street, as fire alarm operator; the fire chief said she "cleared all of the other candidates, far and above the rest." A Department of Public Works commissioner told the council a newly adopted U.S.
Postal Service easement, covering 434 square feet of temporary and 420 square feet of permanent easements on Center Street, clears the way to advertise the Plymouth and Center Street transportation project in October, with construction in 2027. A $2.3 million bond for two fire trucks and a late-filed resolution asking Mayor Rodriguez to sue the state over a new zoning law, Chapter 137 of the Acts of 2026, were both referred to Finance.
