Brockton's Planning Board approved seven residential and commercial projects by 4-0 roll calls and clashed with the mayor's office over ending remote meetings.
Planning Board · Meeting of July 7, 2026
Brockton's Planning Board approved seven residential and commercial projects by 4-0 roll calls and clashed with the mayor's office over ending remote meetings. Chair Tony Barboza said the board "weren't asked" before the mayor proposed moving all boards back in person, possibly by August, and argued virtual sessions save money and keep quorum. Member Marty Crowell asked "who is in charge of making this decision" on meeting format, and resident Veronica told the board she would be "too intimidated to be open and honest" speaking in person.
The board also approved a 177 Carroll Avenue ADU only after requiring a double-wide driveway, cleared two-lot subdivisions on Belair Street and Galen Street, approved a redesigned six-unit project at 703 North Main Street after a February 2025 ZBA denial, and adopted electronic signatures under Massachusetts General Law Chapter 110G.
