Planning Board · Meeting of August 4, 2026

Brockton Planning Board voted to keep its meetings fully virtual, rebuffing a mayoral push for in-person sessions. The board voted 5-0 to continue remote meetings after members including Marty Crowell and Matthew Gallagher weighed tradeoffs; Gallagher wants "limits and some standards for how people can present" after an applicant appeared to present from inside a car. Member James Sweeney cited resident Veronica Stevens, who he said prefers virtual meetings because she "feels safer." Planning staffer Elijah confirmed "the mayor's position is that he supports in-person meetings," but the board was not required to follow that preference.

Separately, the board approved a two-year extension for a 100,000-square-foot self-storage project on Perkins Avenue, three accessory dwelling unit site plans, and released two lots in the Braymore Estates subdivision, where engineer Scott Faria said $232,000 in work remains.
