The committee also amended a pension obligation bond order, certifying an unfunded accrued liability of $59,758,000, down from a $66.5 million placeholder, as CFO Dr. Troy Clarkson confirmed the city is likely to issue additional pension debt within the next month. Walk Massachusetts reported that Brockton recorded four pedestrian fatalities in 2024, tied with Springfield for second-most in the state behind Boston's 12, and recommended the city hire a dedicated transportation planner.
