Brockton School Committee Ratifies BEA and Custodial Teamsters Contracts in Final 2025 Meeting

BROCKTON — December 16, 2025 — Brockton School Committee ratifies two union contracts in its final meeting of 2025. The committee voted 6-1, with Vice Chair Tony Rodriguez abstaining, to approve a successor memorandum of agreement with the Brockton Education Association, which covers certified staff and whose members ratified the deal the previous Thursday; a separate custodial Teamsters contract passed 7-0. BEA President Kim Gibson, who addressed the committee before the votes, called the outcome "fiscally responsible, given the budgetary issues Brockton has faced over the past few years." The meeting also featured an emotional send-off for three departing members — Mayor Robert F. Sullivan, 11-year veteran Judy Sullivan, and Jorge Vega — as well as public comment from five Angelo School parents urging the district to reinstate the Talented and Gifted program at the middle school level, a cohort they said numbers only 75 students across three classrooms. Three committee seats turn over January 5.
