Brockton School Committee Unanimously Rates Superintendent Proficient, Extends Contract to 2028

BROCKTON — October 7, 2025 — Brockton School Committee extends Superintendent Tahiliani's contract to 2028 and clears $314,222 in overdue invoices. The committee voted unanimously Tuesday to rate Superintendent Priya Tahiliani proficient in her FY2024-2025 evaluation, automatically triggering a contract extension to 2028 under her existing agreement; Vice Chair Anthony Rodriguez, who led the evaluation process, called it "the most impressive" first cycle in recent memory for member participation. The board also voted unanimously to pay $314,222.37 in outstanding FY25 invoices, with new CFO Dr. Beth Regalbuto — about 45 days into the role — telling members the list reflects normal year-end timing rather than the multi-year backlog cleared over the past year. Grants Director Cam Jackson reported $29.37 million in total FY25 grant receipts, but flagged the elimination of the ROPS paraprofessional-to-teacher pipeline grant and uncertainty around Title I and Title III. District enrollment stands at 14,914, down 366 from a year ago, with new English learner enrollments dropping 36 percent over the summer. School safety liaison Lieutenant Banaka reported that a sealed bag of fentanyl was found September 29 on a classroom floor at Brockton High School, confirmed positive after field testing; four canine units swept the building and found nothing further.
