Brockton School Panel Approves Youth Guidance Mentoring Contract for 110 High School Students

BROCKTON — October 22, 2025 — Brockton School Committee subcommittee approves Youth Guidance contract to mentor 110 Brockton High students. The subcommittee voted unanimously Wednesday to award Chicago-based Youth Guidance the supplemental services contract for Brockton High School under bid number 26001, serving 55 male and 50 female students through case management, social-emotional learning, and family home visits. Brockton High School Principal McCaskill, who piloted the program at Boston's Madison Park High School beginning in 2018, told the panel that enrolled students there improved attendance from below 70 percent to above 80 percent and generated substantially fewer teacher referrals. Members Mr. Vega and Mrs. Oliver pressed on student selection criteria, parent engagement, and what outcome data the committee should expect; McCaskill committed to tracking attendance, referrals, and academic performance but noted fiscal year 2026 will largely be a ramp-up phase while Youth Guidance hires in-house staff. The contract price holds constant through fiscal years 2026, 2027, and 2028, compared to a competing vendor whose pricing escalates each year.
