Brockton's Planning Board approved five site-plan and subdivision requests and continued a zoning amendment for the former Old Colony YMCA property to November 4.
Planning Board · Meeting of October 7, 2026
Brockton's Planning Board approved five site-plan and subdivision requests and continued a zoning amendment for the former Old Colony YMCA property to November 4. Attorney James Burke presented the proposed Corcoran sub-district expansion, which would allow the YMCA property to be converted entirely to residential use once the YMCA relocates elsewhere in Brockton. Deputy Fire Chief Brendan Weeks warned the board that added housing density could strain downtown parking and said the department "shouldn't lighten parking restrictions, especially in the downtown area, which is already congested." Board member Marty recused from that item, citing YMCA employment.
Separately, the board voted 5-0 to approve a corporate headquarters and vehicle-maintenance facility at 270 Oak Hill Way, two new house lots via a Leech Avenue road extension, an accessory dwelling unit at 331 Plain Street, and two "approval not required" lot-division requests on Thatcher Street and 6 Jonathan Drive.
